Delivery Conditions
The tubes shall be manufactured from hot-finished seamless tubes by cold drawing or other suitable processes. The tubes shall be supplied in one of the delivery conditions as follows.
Designation | Symbol | Description |
Cold-drawn/hard | +C | No heat treatment after the final cold drawing process |
Cold-drawn/soft | +LC | After the final heat treatment, there is a suitable drawing pass |
Cold drawn and stress relieved | +SR | After the final cold drawing process, there is a stress relief heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere |
Annealed | +A | After the final cold drawing process, the tubes are annealed in a controlled atmosphere |
Normalized | +N | After the final cold drawing operation, the tubes are normalized in a controlled atmosphere |
Desciption
1. By Standard & Application Category:
Standard: EN 10305-4 - "Steel tubes for precision applications - Technical delivery conditions - Seamless cold drawn tubes"
Application Category: Precision engineering components requiring high dimensional accuracy, excellent surface finish, and superior mechanical properties. Typical uses include hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, automotive shock absorbers, bearing sleeves, and high-precision mechanical parts.
2. By Manufacturing Process:
Type: Seamless
Process: Cold Drawn. The tube is manufactured from a solid steel billet that is pierced to form a hollow shell, which is then cold-drawn through a die at room temperature. This process ensures:
Exceptional dimensional tolerances.
A very smooth internal and external surface finish.
Enhanced mechanical strength through work hardening.
3. By Material Grade:
Steel Grade: E355 according to EN 10273. This is a fine-grained, non-alloy quality steel with a specified minimum yield strength of 355 MPa.
Key Characteristics:
Strength: Offers a good balance of high strength and toughness.
Weldability: Suitable for welding under specified conditions.
Machinability: Responds well to further machining operations.
4. By Key Properties:
Dimensional Accuracy: Conforms to the strict "cold drawn" tolerances specified in EN 10305-4 for outer diameter (OD) and wall thickness (WT).
Mechanical Properties: Guaranteed minimum values for Tensile Strength, Yield Strength (Rp0.2), and Elongation.
Surface Quality: Typically has a smooth, bright surface suitable for critical applications without further finishing.
5. By Compliance & Certification:
Certification: Supplied with a 3.1 Inspection Certificate, which validates compliance with the standard's chemical and mechanical properties.
Traceability: Each batch is traceable to its manufacturing heat number.
